My favorite thing about buying anything online through Sephora is the free samples, cause, come on, who doesn’t love free stuff?! Every now and then there will be a sample on Sephora that seems like it’s too good to be true, so you put it in your cart quickly and check out before they realize it was a mistake and take it away. This was my reaction when I got a sample of the Laura Mercier Eye Basics Primer in the color Wheat.
Admittedly I threw the sample in the pile of “things I’ll try later” until just recently. The past couple days I thought I would try something different from my trusty Urban Decay Primer Potion. I can honestly say I’m really disappointed in the quality. I was expecting great things from this product and was left with creasy eyeshadow. I put my makeup on around 9:30 this morning, and by 2 there were hard lines and noticeably less shadow. Fast forward to 6 o’clock and I can’t see any remains of all my hard work this morning. I have had days where I doze off and take a nap in my makeup, (don’t try this at home, kids), primed by my Urban Decay primer, and my eyeshadow is still fully in place when I wake up. Maybe my standards were too high, but I was terribly let down. I won’t be purchasing a full-sized version, and will probably be sticking with my UD primer for a while longer.
