I love mascara. I have about 6 open mascaras at the moment that I’m using and alternating between. I’m also very particular about my mascara. It needs to be volumizing and lengthening, but also long lasting and not smudge on my lower lash line. It’s needless to say I have high standards. I’ve yet to find one mascara that meets all my standards by itself, which is why I layer two together, one for thickening and one for lengthening.
If you’re an Ultimate Rewards Member at Ulta (which, if you aren’t, go do it!), you get a free gift on your birthday. This year, it was a deluxe sample of Benefit’s Roller Lash for birthdays in January-March. I was so excited to get this, because this is one of those mascaras that was on my list of must buys.
This is one of those mascaras that is designed for length. The bristles are shaped to help separate lashes, so you don’t end up with loads of clumps. It’s a curved wand, too, which helps it to get those hard to reach lashes. It’s also really good for lower lashes. The wand is small enough that it won’t get everywhere, and the shape makes it so easy to get a good length without gross clumps.
I really like this mascara. Since my favorite lengthening mascara was discontinued, I was in the market for something that would replace it. It has great staying power, I’ve yet to experience smudges.
I definitely would buy this mascara again. I think it’s worth the money for how well it does it’s purpose. Mascara is one of those beauty products that isn’t necessary to splurge on. Drugstore stuff works just as well as higher end products. So, if you’re someone who isn’t super particular about mascara, I don’t think this is a necessity. Maybelline does some that are amazing for half the price.
If you don’t mind a splurge for a mascara, give this a go ($24 at Ulta). It’s amazing how well it separates lashes, and how it lasts. Like I said, this isn’t something that I think you absolutely have to get, but you do get what you’re paying for.
