Best of Beauty 2016

It’s officially 2017! Which means Best of Beauty! Most of the things on this list were a no brainer, because they are things that I have gone through completely and had to repurchase, or things that I still use almost daily. A few things on this list I had to give a little thought to because they were things I mainly use during summer, so I haven’t touched them in awhile, but I still love them! If you’ve been following me for awhile, a lot of the things on this list will pretty obvious, because I’ve raved about them in so many posts.

MAC Faux Lipstick
This has hands down been my go to nude lipstick this year. It definitely leans a little more on the pink side, but when paired with a brownish-nude lipliner, the pink is toned down and creates the perfect nude. The lipstick is matte, but definitely not drying or uncomfortable on the lips. It also lasts a really long time, I usually can go 5 hours without it fading or separating on my lips. I honestly can’t rave about this lipstick enough!

NYX Natural Lip Liner
Pretty much any time I’m using a lip liner, it’s this one. I love the color of it, because it tones down any harsh lipsticks. If something looks too pink or too dark, I use this as a base, because it helps to make the color more natural looking (hence the name). It’s super cheap, and is really great quality. The formula is a little on the drying side, but once a lipstick or top coat has been applied, you can’t even notice it. I actually went through one of these already and had to repurchase because I use this daily.

Tartelette In Bloom Palette
This palette was my go to pretty much the entire summer. I love every one of the colors in here, and can honestly say that I use them all. I love that I can make a natural, every day look with this palette, but I can also make a more glam look. Any day that I’m going for an easy, fresh eye look that requires minimal effort, this is the palette that I reach for. The formula is super buttery and long lasting, and it smells like vanilla! If you don’t have this palette, and love pink and brown neutrals, definitely go pick it up! You won’t regret it!

Huda Beauty Liquid Matte Lipstick in Bombshell
This is a more recent purchase of mine, but I absolutely adore this lipstick. I love the color, it’s the perfect ‘my lips but better’ shade. It’s the most comfortable liquid lipstick that I have ever tried. It doesn’t dry out my lips, it doesn’t settle into lines, and it lasts a long time without fading or separating. The smell is like an artificial vanilla smell. It honestly doesn’t bother me, I kind of like it, but if you are sensitive to smells or don’t like anything artificial, you probably wouldn’t like it. Having said that, you can only smell it when it’s in the tube, it doesn’t smell while it’s on. If you’ve never tried these lipsticks, definitely give them a try, because as someone who hates the feeling of liquid lipsticks, I adore these!

Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara
This is my holy grail mascara. I forget how much I love it until I use something else and my lashes look kind of blah. When I have this on, my lashes look so long and thick and dark. I honestly haven’t found a mascara that is better for thickening than this! This mascara definitely gets better with age, so the more it dries out, the better it works.

Benefit Roller Lash Mascara
I love pairing this mascara with the Better Than Sex mascara to help separate the clumps. On it’s own, I don’t think it does much for my lashes. It’s really great for lengthening and separating, but doesn’t do much for thickening. When paired with Better Than Sex, my lashes look perfect. They’re thick and long and the curl lasts all day.

Kat Von D Ink Liner
I used to be ride or die for the Stila Stay All Day Liquid Liner, but I think this product has taken over as my #1 liquid liner. At first I absolutely hated this. I didn’t like the tip because it’s stiff, so I found it hard to draw a line along my lashes. After getting used to the shape of this, I can honestly say that I love it. It makes drawing a wing so easy. The stiff tip allows you to be precise without risking the nib bending and drawing something in the wrong spot. It’s also super black and lasts all day!

Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz
After trying this eyebrow pencil, I can honestly not live without it. The color match is absolutely perfect, it’s not too warm and matches my hair spot on. The pencil itself has a very small tip, making it easy to make little, precise hairs. I can easily draw out the shape I want my brows to be, and fill in the really sparse areas without it looking fake or drawn on.

Anastasia Beverly Hills Clear Brow Gel
This gel is like super glue for your eyebrows. It makes sure that all stray hairs stay in their place, and don’t move around during the day. I really love it because it helps my brows to keep their shape and not get a mind of their own during the day.

Foreo Luna Mini
This has been my skin care lifesaver this year. I can notice such a significant change in my skin since using this. Not only have my pores gotten smaller, especially on my cheeks, but my skin has started producing less oil throughout the day. I still get the occasional breakout, but not as much as I used to since using this. I know it’s a little pricey, but it’s definitely worth it. If you want to read more about this, and see pictures showing how it changed my skin, you can check out my posts about it here (x, x).

MAC 217 Brush
This was my first MAC brush, and I have completely been converted and will never go back. I love the shape of this brush, because it gets shadows directly into the crease without getting too high up. This brush also helps to prevent muddy shadows because it fits perfectly into my crease. The bristles are really soft, too. If you only ever get one MAC brush, it should be this one! There aren’t any like it on the market, and as long as you take care of the brush, it should last you forever.

Bumble and Bumble Pret-a-Powder
I’ve really been into the ‘just rolled out of bed’ hair look the past few months. I love how effortless but still cool it looks. As someone with relatively thin and flat hair, I have trouble getting that tousled, voluminous texture. I love using this around my part and roots to give me that extra volume and texture that I need. It also has dry shampoo in it, so it helps to keep the oil out of my hair, which is an added bonus!

Mario Badesku Drying Lotion
Whenever I have a pimple, or feel one coming on, I make sure to apply this to the spot. It helps to dry it out and heal it faster. When I apply it to spots I feel acne coming on, I can stop it before the mark reaches the surface, so the acne never makes an appearance. Everyone who I have recommended this to absolutely loves it and swears by it, too. If you suffer from acne, definitely pick this up, you won’t regret it!

  1. MAC 217 is an excellent brush. I was hearing a lot that the sigma e25 is a dupe for it. But unfortunately i find it to be stiff.

    1. I honestly hate every liquid lipstick I’ve tried except for these. Everything else feels like it’s sucking all the moisture from my lips. The Huda Beauty ones are so comfortable and not at all drying!
